Allan came up with the idea for Main Street Farms while he was teaching high school social studies. As an avid gardener and supporter of local food, he was upset by the quality of food served in the school cafeteria. He set out to build a farm that would use greenhouses and aquaponics to grow food year round, and to be able to educate children on the importance of eating vegetables.

Main Street Farms is a small diversified organic farm and education center. Our vegetables are grown using aquaponics, greenhouses, and other environmentally friendly methods in Homer and Cortland, NY. We are dedicated to sustainable agriculture and local food security. The farm started in 2011 by selling at a small local farmers market. Now we provide food for local schools, small grocery stores, restaurants, the Syracuse Regional Market, and our CSA members all over Central New York.
