Juniper Hill Farm is nestled between the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain on the mighty Boquet River in Wadhams, New York. Established in 2007, Juniper Hill grew on three acres of fertile land; now, for their fourth CSA season, they cultivate over twenty acres. They’ve added more greenhouses as an effort to bring to market an earlier and higher quality variety of products.

During the summer, they can be found selling produce at seven farmers markets weekly, and provide a healthy quantity of wholesale goods to their local chefs. The quality of their CSA produce is evident by their diversified model of marketing.

Juniper Hill believes knowledge is power. They believe industrial foods, genetically modified and shipped around the world, are unsustainable and unhealthy. Their growing techniques exceed the requirements of the National Organic Program and Juniper Hill is recognized by New York State as a Certified Naturally Grown Farm.

Katchkie FarmKatchkie

Katchkie Farm is a year-round organic farming operation owned by the NYC-based catering company, Great Performances.  Katchkie Farm represents a commitment to celebrating local flavors and an investment in sustainable agriculture and good earth practices.  Katchkie, which sits on 60 acres in Columbia County, NY, yielded its first harvest in 2007.

In addition to the traditional farm, Katchkie also houses The Sylvia Center, an educational nonprofit that introduces children to the pleasures and benefits of healthy, sustainable food through farm visits and cooking workshops.  Katchkie Farm’s philanthropic role also includes committing 5% of its annual harvest to anti-hunger organizations, notably the Hudson Valley Food Bank, City Harvest, and Yorkville Common Pantry.

The Katchkie Farm team is split between the farm and the city. Farmer Bob manages the farm, leading a few seasonal workers in the tilling, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting and all that goes into the daily processes of farming. Brooke Saias, Farm Project Coordinator, works in New York City managing the CSA Program, farmers markets, and overseeing all outreach efforts.

Klein's Kill Fruit Farm

Named after the nearby stream in Germantown, NY, Klein's Kill Fruit Farm is actually an Italian-American farm founded in 1921 by Italian immigrant Antonio Bartolotta and Jesse Cooper, a descendant of colonial Americans. This rich history only adds to the beauty of this family farm. Now in its third generation of farmers, the Bartolotta family has expanded to 600 acres of orchards, boasting myriad varieties of peaches, plums, apples, nectarines, and pears. From the farm: "It is our family’s passion to be committed to the environment and economic efficiencies to ensure a sustainable business for future generations to come." Klein's Kill Fruit Farm uses family farming methods that include conventional practices.
